We followed the colonies from a time of peace before the French and Indian War through thee unpopular taxes and policies of King George III. "no taxation without representation," was the cry of the colonist as Lord North and Parliament repeatedly imposed taxes on the colonists. The Intolerable Acts were retaliation for the Boston Tea Party. These acts marked a clear line that was crossed. Both sides prepared for the war which was in the words of Patrick Henry "already begun", and "inevitable".
