Montesquieu

Some Philosophy

Montesquieu

Liked the new government that emerged from England following the civil war.
Said all governments should separate power between different branches.
Each branch should limit the power of the others. This is known as checks and balances.

Montesquieu’s influence:
The Constitution divides or separates power into three branches: Legislative, Judicial, and Executive.
Each branch of governments power is limited by answering to a different branch (checks and balances).
