Grade 8 Project
“Count Me In!!!” Advisory Quilt

1. In advisory, each student will create a question to survey his/her classmates.
The question should have a number for an answer (How many sports do you
play?) or a predictable number of responses (What is your favorite day of the
week? or What is your favorite type of music?) If there are 22 students in an
advisory, then the group should generate 22 different questions. _________

2. Each student will use his/her survey question to survey 50 members of the 8th
and record the results on a tally chart. This can be done during advisory or
lunch. _________

3. Using a piece of white unlined paper, each student will use the survey infor-
mation to create a “square” for the advisory quilt. The advisory group should
decide…
how the paper will be oriented
what colors will be used for unity

4. Individual squares should…
a. be in the correct orientation
b. have the correct colors selected by the advisory
c. state the survey question
d. include the tally chart
e. use as many data analysis tools as possible to show the findings
